The Dallas Cowboys: A History of Success and Passion

The Dallas Cowboys is a professional American football team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Cowboys compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league's National Football Conference (NFC) East division. The team is headquartered in Frisco, Texas, and plays its home games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which opened for the 2009 season. The stadium took its current name prior to the 2013 season. The Cowboys joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1960. The team's national following might best be represented by its NFL record of consecutive sell-outs. The Cowboys' streak of 190 consecutive sold-out regular and post-season games (home and away) began in 2002. The franchise has made it to the Super Bowl eight times, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos for the second most Super Bowl appearances in history, just behind the New England Patriots record for eleven Super Bowl appearances. This has also corresponded to eight NFC championships, most in the NFC. The Cowboys have won five of those Super Bowl appearances, tying them with their NFC rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, and the AFC's New England Patriots for the second most Super Bowl victories by a single team.

The Cowboys are the only NFL team to record 20 straight winning seasons (1966–1985), in which they only missed the playoffs twice (1974 and 1984), an NFL record that remains unmatched. In 2015, the Dallas Cowboys became the first sports team to be valued at $4 billion, making it the most valuable sports team in the world, according to Forbes. The Cowboys also generated $620 million in revenue in 2014, a record for a U.S. sports team. In 2018 they also became the first NFL franchise to be valued at $5 billion and made Forbes' list as the most valued NFL team for the 12th straight year.

The Dallas Cowboys have a storied history and a passionate fan base, making them one of the most popular and successful teams in the NFL. The team was founded in 1960 by Clint Murchison Jr., and quickly became a force to be reckoned with in the league. The Cowboys won their first NFC Championship in 1966, and have since won a total of eight conference titles. In addition to their conference championships, the Cowboys have also made it to the Super Bowl eight times, winning five of those appearances.

One of the most notable players in Cowboys history is quarterback Roger Staubach, who played for the team from 1969 to 1979. Staubach is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and is widely considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. Other notable Cowboys players include running back Emmitt Smith, wide receiver Michael Irvin, and defensive end DeMarcus Ware.

The Cowboys have a strong rivalry with the Washington Football Team, and the two teams have faced off in the postseason on multiple occasions. The Cowboys also have rivalries with other NFC East teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants.

In recent years, the Cowboys have struggled to find success on the field, but they remain one of the most popular and valuable franchises in the NFL. The team's dedicated fan base, known as "Cowboys Nation," supports the team through thick and thin and is known for its passionate and vocal support at games.

Despite their recent struggles, the Dallas Cowboys have a rich history and a bright future ahead of them. With a talented roster and a dedicated coaching staff, the Cowboys are poised to make a comeback and reclaim their place as one of the top teams in the league.
